Aerostrip is a high performance, new generation epoxy and polyurethane paint remover.
Based on hydrogen peroxide/benzyl alcohol chemistry, Aerostrip has minimal odour and is of low corrosivity to metals. It meets the sandwich corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement requirements of Boeing D6-17487.

Aerostrip gives excellent paint stripping performance on conventional aircraft paint schemes and on some age hardened schemes it will even out perform conventional products. Persistent performance over time with one application of product makes Aerostrip very cost-effective to use.

Aerostrip is more environmentally acceptable than conventional dichloromethane based materials. This product is free from chlorinated hydrocarbons, phenolic materials and has no unusual toxicity/health problems.

APPLICATION

Before application

1. Aerostrip should be applied using a 10:1 ratio air driven pump. All pump components that come into contact with Aerostrip should be made of stainless steel or PTFE. Contact Dasic for advice on suitable equipment. Apply the product directly from the drum or via a clean container that does not contain any other paint remover residues or contaminants such as rust.

2. Ensure that the pump is scrupulously clean and that product delivery lines are empty and clean with no paint remover trapped in the connectors.

3. The hangar temperature should be between 23°C and 30°C for best results.

4. All magnesium, perspex, polycarbonate and composite areas should be effectively masked before application of Aerostrip.

5. Never mix Aerostrip with other paint removers as a violent reaction could result.

During application

1. Ensure that the operator complies with all health and safety precautions, including full face protection and eye protection.

2. Ensure adequate ventilation during the stripping process.

3. After the top coat has lifted, it can be beneficial to remove it and apply another layer of Aerostrip.

After application

1. Remove remaining paint residues with a stiff bristle brush or squeegee. Do not confine the denatured paint in closed containers. (Any residual hydrogen peroxide could release oxygen and heat and could cause a dangerous pressure build up.)

2. Clean the treated surfaces with a 10% solution of Dasic Aerokleen DP4477 and then rinse thoroughly with high pressure water.

3. All waste and waste water should be disposed of in accordance with local and national regulations.

4. Thoroughly clean all pumps, product lines and containers with water immediately after application of Aerostrip. Do not use solvents for this purpose as dangerous reactions could occur.
